For over 137 years the Ames Farm has been a working dairy, raising and caring for a friendly herd of Holsteins.

In the 1870's, Ezra Ames, after leaving his childhood home on Ames Hill Road in Marlboro, Vermont, started clearing the woods just outside Falconer, New York.  Thus started the first generation of the Ames Farm off Peck Settlement Road.

Established 1879

The farm equipment will allow you to track history – transitioning from the big Belgian horses, to the old H tractor (the International Harvester Model H - the first tractor on the farm in 1947), to the newer International Harvester tractors and equipment.

Today, the Ames Farm spans 169 acres of pastures and fields, and features a 120 year old slate-roofed farm house, two large barns, and multiple out buildings.

The next generations

4th - Chuck

6th - Steve

7th - Alex

In 2012, on Uncle Chuck's birthday the farm quietly changed hands as Uncle Chuck sold the farm to his great nephew Stephen Wooters.  With lifetime rights, Chuck is still the boss as the Ames Farm is being set-up for the NEXT 137 years. Looking ahead, Steve is delighted to think about transitioning it to the 7th generation.

The Next Generation(s)

As the 4th generation farmer, Uncle Chuck still tends to the lands and keeps the barns full all winter with young Holsteins he helps raise for the neighboring farmers.
