It takes one million flowers for every pound of honey - and there is plenty of honey coming off the Ames Farm.  Come help beekeeper Steve extract the honey in the milk house!

& honeys...

The best honey!

The big red barn and the heifer barn are kept warm all winter long by the girls, but there are many other buildings around the farm as well! All of the buildings have a purpose - go explore and see what's inside!

Safe Under Cover

As an animal, you can only hope to call the Ames Farm home. The barns are full year round with all forms of four-legged and feathered friends. You can almost see them smiling.

Always something fun to do . . .

Living the Life on the Farm

"I love the farm.

There is always something fun to do."

Step Inside the Barns

No matter what the time of year, there are TONS of things to do - the pond’s there for fishing or skating, the hill’s there for sledding or hay rides, the loft’s there for building your very own hay bail fort. Located in the picturesque Chautauqua region, along with well priced wine there is plenty of shopping and small town spirit to enjoy.  Lake Chautauqua and the Chautauqua Institution are also just a few short miles away:  www.ciweb.org
These days the barns are full with the neighboring farmers’ young stock, so there are plenty of your bovine friends to enjoy.  Additionally, there are four equine buddies:  Belgians Tom & April hang out in the old hog pen and north pasture; while enormous Belgian Bud calls the heifer barn home; and, hanging with Bud, is Alex’s horse, Rufus.  Rufus is a big, healthy quarter horse enjoying his retirement with lots of spirit . . . but still ready to ride at the walk.  And they all love a little brushing and a fist full of carrots or apples.

The Ames Farm spans 169 acres of pastures and fields, and features a 120 year old slate-roofed farm house, two large barns, and multiple out buildings.  The farm equipment will allow you to track history – transitioning from the big Belgian horses, to the old H tractor (the International Harvester Model H - the first tractor on the farm in 1947), to the newer International Harvester tractors and equipment.
